I caught the photography bug as a young child, when in 1965, my father won a photography contest. I developed an interest in travel from my mother who loved to travel. Being refuges from Cuba, my family did not have the means to travel; so the only way to see the world was through pictures like National Geographic, Life, and even the encyclopedia.
In 1984, my wife and I gave each other a camera as a wedding present. It was a fully manual Olympus OM-1n that we still own. We did this primarily, so we could document our wonderful lives together. Photographing my children, family and friends has given me the opportunity to capture sports, theater, concerts, and many group events.
Additionally, my wife and I enjoy traveling, gardening, and native habitat creation. This has allowed me to expand my areas of interest to include travel, wildlife, close-up and macro photography.
Documenting life is not only a primary purpose of my photography, it is also the type of photography I do most. I want to tell a story that represents the event or subject that I photograph. I also use this philosophy in my travel photography, looking for details, situations, and scenes that place me back in that trip.
I invite you to take a look. I hope you enjoy it. Please drop me a line and share your thoughts.
